Archaeologists find the origin of Stonehenge’s giant stones

Stonehenge’s Origins
- But here’s the real kicker: where did those gigantic sarsen stones come from? It was like finding the missing piece of a jigsaw puzzle! Well, hold onto your hats because the sarsen stones were found right in England. The place is called West Woods. And it is just a short distance – 25 kilometers, to be precise – from Stonehenge itself. Can you believe it? The mystery was solved by examining a stone that had mysteriously disappeared back in 1958 but was returned last year. That stone held the key to the truth!
- The clever scientists analyzed the chemistry of the stones at the Stonehenge site and compared them with samples from all over England. And guess what they discovered? The stones from West Woods had the closest match! It seems those crafty builders of Stonehenge chose West Woods. This is because it had these gigantic sarsen stones just waiting to be turned into something amazing.
- So, my little explorers, this incredible discovery tells us a lot about the ancient people who built Stonehenge. It’s also a reminder that even the biggest mysteries can be solved with a little bit of curiosity and a whole lot of scientific investigation!
