Ed Leader – Mr. Surjit SIngh, Delhi Public School, Rudrapur
Education is an integral part of a child’s upbringing. We, at Curious Times, have made it our aim to ensure that we also play an active role in imparting the right knowledge to all the Curious children. As such, we also try to ensure that we are always in touch with the leaders in education today and learning from them. After all, it is important to learn from the best.
So, today, we present to you a one-on-one conversation with Mr. Surjit Singh. He is the Chairman of Delhi Public School, Rudrapur. The school is an initiative of the Delhi Public School Society, which has been, ever since its inception, one of the largest conglomerates of schools nationwide and abroad. Its core philosophy is Service before self.
When did you decide to step into the world of education? What motivated you to become an Educator? I was inspired by my own teachers who contributed to the field of education and wanted to start a school showcasing 21st-century values. I also saw that many children lacked opportunities and facilities and I was motivated to do something for them.
Share some of the challenges you have faced in your career journey. How did you convert those challenges into the pillars of success? Some challenges I faced include a shortage of financial resources as well as seeing a lack of like-minded and forward-thinking people. But working hard and with firm determination helped me overcome the challenges.
What are the changes have you observed over the years in the field of education? Are you happy with these changes? I have observed that many educational institutes still follow the traditional ways in the teaching-learning process and there is a dire need for the complete overhauling of the system. So, I would say, I am not exactly happy.
What changes would you like to see in the field of Education? What role can the various stakeholders like the government, teachers, students and parents play in this? I would like to see the skill and value-based education which produces mindful, compassionate and caring citizens. All stakeholders need to have the same vision and mission to bring about the change and they need to work with uniformity and conformity.
Share your message with the aspiring teachers and leaders of tomorrow. Make classrooms and the places of learning happy, engaging, interactive, fun-filled, blended with 21st-century skills. This will help them meet the challenges and demands.
Share your message for your and Curious Times students. Learn, Unlearn & Re-learn.
