A rare, bright-yellow catfish
What is a catfish?
It is a type of fish that has long barbels, or feelers, around its mouth. They look like cat whiskers.
There are many types of catfish in the world. They can be as small as one centimetre or bigger and heavier than a human! Some catfishes can grow as long as 8 feet and weigh over 100 kg.
While all that is amazing, recently, a man in the Netherlands caught an even more rare type of catfish – this was was extremely bright yellow in colour!
The man, named Martin Glatz, was out fishing on a boat with his twin brother when they caught this really rare catfish. It was huge and looked like a huge moving banana!

The yellow catfish is a wels catfish. This is a catfish known for its large size and it lives in lakes and rivers throughout Europe. But they usually have dark greenish-black bodies.
This rare, bright-yellow catfish is not common. Its colour is most likely due to leucism. This is a rare genetic disorder that causes an organism to lose colour in the skin and hair. A while ago, people also found a turtle in Odisha with this condition.
While he was very shocked at first, Glatz released the fish back into the water later after taking a few photos. What would you do if you caught such a fish?
