Curious Times in conversation with Madhushree Bhaumik

Education is an integral part of a child’s upbringing. We, at Curious Times, have made it our aim to ensure that we also play an active role in imparting the right knowledge to all the Curious children. As such, we also try to ensure that we are always in touch with the leaders in education today and learning from them. After all, it is important to learn from the best.

So, today, we present to you a one-on-one conversation with Madhushree Bhaumik. She is the Headmistress of Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Kanpur. It aims at the all-around development of the child/ individual. It focuses on the current needs and aspirations of a society, its inherent values, concerns as well as broad human ideals.

When did you decide to step into the world of education? What motivated you to become an Educator?

When I was in grade 8, I used to teach my sub staff’s children. I noticed that I can simplify the topics often and it motivated me to opt to teach.

Share some of the challenges you have faced in your career journey. How did you convert those challenges into the pillars of success?

Teaching Lifeskills is not very easy, the problem comes from the parents’ side. Children generally love to do simple activities or daily chores, but due to social pressure, sometimes children avoid performing in front of others. As a teacher, I have always tried to blend extra-curriculur activities with academics and lead by example.

What are the changes have you observed over the years in the field of education? Are you happy with these changes?

Bonding is missing. Nowadays, children don’t know about joint families, they don’t accept checks by elders. Only parents can scold their children. Following the same, they don’t respect their teachers as well. In junior school, they love their activity teachers gradually and they learn to bifurcate the respect even. We need to develop a bridge between generations.

What changes would you like to see in the field of Education? What role can the various stakeholders like the government, teachers, students and parents play in this?

Skill Based Learning should be mandatory from class 8 onwards. There should not be any difference between Government Teachers and private sector teachers. Political people get so many perks, but the teachers who are making them don’t get any benefits.

Share your message with the aspiring teachers and leaders of tomorrow.

Don’t force your children to understand the given subject or topic. Understand your children, observe them and make them learn in their own way. BE & MAKE.

Share your message for your and Curious Times students.

Let’s do it together, let’s try it, I am with you.
