Education is an integral part of a child’s upbringing. We, at Curious Times, have made it our aim to ensure that we also play an active role in imparting the right knowledge to all the Curious children. As such, we also try to ensure that we are always in touch with the leaders in education today and learning from them. After all, it is important to learn from the best.

So, today, we present to you a one-on-one conversation with Ms. Nirali Dagli. She is the Principal of Calorx Public School, Ghatlodia, Ahmedabad. It aims at the all-round development of the child/individual. It focuses on the current needs and aspirations of a society, its inherent values, concerns as well as broad human ideals.

When did you decide to step into the world of education? What motivated you to become an Educator? I stepped into the world of education after completing post- graduation and B.Ed. Passion for teaching, love for students and a dream to change the education system always motivated me to become an educator.

Share some of the challenges you have faced in your career journey. How did you convert those challenges into the pillars of success? Lack of training of the teachers was the major challenge I faced in my career journey. But I could surmount this challenge by trying to stimulate their interest in the field they liked the most and once it was created, there was no looking back.

What are the changes have you observed over the years in the field of education? Are you happy with these changes? Major changes have been observed over the years in the field of education: Progressive learning environment is now seen in the schools in the form of AIL, STEAM, STEM, Experiential Learning, Project-Based Learning, and Design thinking. All of them have replaced Rote learning and only book knowledge. Digital devices have changed everything. Various apps are the new textbooks. With the development of technology in Education, the speed of gaining knowledge has increased tremendously. It seems good but somewhere along the road, this change is also affecting the health and the social behaviour of the students.

What changes would you like to see in the field of Education? What role can the various stakeholders like the government, teachers, students and parents play in this?

Changes needed in the field of education:

  1. Evaluation system: The focus of evaluation should be classroom participation by a student, projects, communication and leadership skills and extra-curricular activities.
  2. Proper training of teachers.
  3. Personalized education is needed as all students have different learning paces. For this artificial intelligence can be used.
  4. Students must be taught about technology right from the early years of their education so that it does not become an obstacle for them later in life.
  5. Prioritize what a student likes or is interested in: Students should be pushed to pursue the subject that they like the most instead of creating a heirarchy of importance among different subjects.

Role:
Government: Must Formulate policies to reform the existing education model. Policies must be based on developing the skills of the students away from rote learning.

Teachers: They must be ready to accept the change in the education system. They should be well equipped with modern technology so that every aspect of student’s development is taken care of by the teachers.

Students: They should adapt to the new method of the teaching-learning process. They must also use the technology in their holistic development.

Parents: Must Cooperate and collaborate with the School and Government for the overall development of the students.

Share your message with the aspiring teachers and leaders of tomorrow. Aspiring teachers and the leaders of tomorrow with their passion, positive energy, enthusiasm and experience must cultivate academic excellence, different skills and nurture the hidden potential in next-generation of leaders, that is our students

Share your message for your and Curious Times students. Students must have willpower, courage and strong determination. These three qualities will definitely create a possible way to achieve whatever they dream of. They must learn from every little thing, get experienced and success will surely touch their feet. Never believe in procrastination.
