Rules for Post Submission

Twenty years of being with little ones has groomed me to adopt myself to suit their needs. It has taught me to be patient and understanding. I have learnt that every child is there to be loved and cared for. My achievement is the love and affection that I get from the ones I have taught years ago. Growing up young men and women sometimes hug me when they recognize me in the city streets and markets. I cherish the warmth, they shower on me even if I haven’t recognized them. their joy gives me joy and makes me realize that I’ve done something for the society at large.

The top colleges of the country have students who were taught by me. Having taught all those in my charge, sincerely and with understanding and patience, grants me the privilege of having contributed to the society. Can look back with pride and a sense of achievement when I see some of my taught ones having joined the better institutions and doing well. Some have even started doing well in life.

There have been occasions when – strangers to me – have come and respectfully sought my blessings, reminding me that I had taught them 12 years ago, bringing back to memory the teachers and other pupils of that time. Getting information of some other students and learning how well the others are doing filled me with a sense of pride and fulfillment. The respect shown by parents – even after many years – of those I taught fills me with a joy that is difficult to describe.

Yes, for a lady like me who comes from a community where a man always accompanied her everywhere, who had to seek permission for every little thing and was not allowed to step out in public without a long veil covering her face, looking back I feel like I have covered a long way fighting new battles inside and around me and found my freedom and joy becoming a teacher to the precious future.

These incidents prompt me to think that I must have worked hard with love and care that I am recognized even today. I am determined to continue on the same path. It has probably become a part of me to love and care for all those put in my charge to excel.
