3 Indian universities among world’s top 200

3 Indian universities among world’s top 200The QS World University Ranking is a yearly list that ranks the top institutes of the world.

This year, three from India feature in the top 200 list. They are the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and IIT Delhi. The same three had featured in 2020 too.

IIT Bombay ranks 177th, IIT Delhi 185th and IISc Bengaluru 186th. IIT Bombay is India's top-ranked institution for the fourth year in a row.

Also, for the first time ever, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has entered the ranking. It is among the top 1000. Other new entrants from India in the top 1000 this year include IIT Bhubaneswar.

Which are the top 3 in the list overall for 2022?

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US is at no 1. This is its 10th year as no 1.

The University of Oxford in the UK is no 2. Stanford University in the US and the University of Cambridge in the UK shared the 3rd spot.

The QS World University Rankings is the most widely read institute rankings in the world. It names the world’s top universities for the study of 48 different subjects and five composite faculty areas. This year, the list shows the world's top 1,300.
