32 children awarded PM Bal Puraskar this year

Every year, before Republic Day, the President of India presents the PM Bal Puraskar or Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar. This award was formerly known as the National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement.

It is India’s highest honour given to children for their accomplishments, in the fields of innovation, scholastics, sports, arts & culture, social service and bravery.

What is the PM Bal Puraskar or Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar?

This award is India’s highest honour given to children for their accomplishments in the fields of innovation, scholastics, sports, arts & culture, social service and bravery.

This year, 32 children were awarded for their achievements.

Who are some of the winners of the PM Bal Puraskar this year?

12-year-old dancer Ameya Lagadu from Andhra Pradesh. She has been learning Kuchipudi and Bharatnatyam dances since she was 4 years old and has performed in over 100 programmes.

16-year-old artistic roller skater Khushi Patel from Gujarat. She started skating at the age of four and has been participating in state and national championships.

16-year-old Jyoti Kumari from Bihar received the award for her bravery. She cycled for 1200 km from Gurugram to Bihar carrying her injured father during the COVID-19 lockdown.

14-year-old Sonit Sisolekar from Maharashtra. He is the youngest volcanologist and planetary geologist in India.
