A report says climate crisis may affect 1.2 billion people by 2050

A report says climate crisis may affect 1.2 billion people by 2050According to a new report, by 2050, about 1.2 billion people would need to leave their homes to escape the bad effects of the climate crisis.

The report is called the Ecological Threat Register. It was conducted by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) in Sydney, Australia.

Climate change will affect global development and peace. As nature and ecology are destroyed, more people will fight over fewer resources. This will force many out of their homes or countries.

All countries will be affected by climate change. However, the world's poorest and most vulnerable people will be hardest hit.

IEP's study found that more than a billion people lived in 31 countries that cannot withstand the impact of environmental change.

The regions facing the highest number of threats are Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

The report says, by 2050, there will be higher food and water shortages. Water shortage is something the world already faces today. Climate change has caused disrupted rainfalls, rising temperatures, and more which has created water crises.

Recent years have also seen increases in natural disasters around the world due to climate change. This includes raging wildfires in California, heatwaves across Europe,and so many more.

All this will force more than a billion people to leave their homes and lands.
