INOX multiplex theatre has finally opened its doors to cinema lovers in Srinagar! After more than two decades of closure due to the armed conflict, people are excited to have a cinema back in their city. The INOX multiplex theatre can accommodate over 500 people, providing a spacious and comfortable setting for moviegoers.

Grand Opening

To celebrate the grand opening, the film Laal Singh Chaddha, starring the renowned Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, was chosen as the inaugural screening. In addition, the audience was filled with excitement and anticipation. The atmosphere was filled with anticipation and excitement as the audience settled into their seats.

The closure of cinemas in Kashmir was a result of an armed uprising against Indian rule in the early 1990s. The region, once home to numerous theaters, saw many of them being repurposed into Indian security camps surrounded by razor wire fencing. Some were transformed into medical facilities or shopping complexes, drastically changing the landscape of entertainment in Kashmir.

Changing Times

However, times have changed, and the government has taken a positive step towards revitalizing the region’s cultural scene. Plans are underway to open cinemas in each of the districts, bringing back the joy of public film screenings. The honorable governor of the region, Manoj Sinha, officially inaugurated the theatre. He expressed the government’s commitment to changing the public perception of Jammu and Kashmir.

Governor Sinha acknowledged that the local people crave entertainment and the opportunity to watch movies. The reopening of cinemas marks a significant milestone, allowing residents to reminisce about the bygone era of cinematic experiences.

Government of India promotes actively

In addition to the theatre in Srinagar, Governor Sinha also inaugurated two multipurpose halls in the districts of Shopian and Pulwama. These new halls provide further avenues for cultural activities and community gatherings.

Moreover, the government of India is actively encouraging Indian film producers to return to the picturesque Himalayan valley for film shoots. This initiative aims to not only promote the region’s natural beauty but also boost the local economy and tourism industry.

With the reopening of cinemas and the prospect of more movies being filmed in Kashmir, the residents are filled with hope and excitement for a vibrant and thriving cultural future. The INOX multiplex theatre stands as a symbol of resilience, rejuvenation, and the power of cinema to bring joy to people’s lives once again.
