Air India is first In the world to use Taxibot on commercial flightAir India became the first airline in the world to use a Taxibot on a commercial flight with passengers on board.

On 15 October 2019, a Taxibot carried the A320 aircraft all the way to the runway at Terminal 3 of the Delhi airport.
A Taxibot is a robotic aircraft tractor capable of taking an aircraft from the parking bay to the runway with the engines switched off.
It is controlled by the pilot and is used as alternate taxiing* equipment.
Taxibots can help save a lot of fuel and reduce engine wear and tear, as the ignition will be turned on only when the aircraft reaches the runway.
For now, these Taxibots will be used for departing flights only.

Such use of taxibots at airports across the world can make a huge difference towards a cleaner environment.
*Taxiing - (of an aircraft) move slowly along the ground before take-off or after landing
