Baarack the overgrown sheep gets an amazing haircut

Recommended for Foundational Grades

Where do we get wool from? Sheep. We get wool from other animals too but sheep are the most common. Their fleece (hair) to used to make wool.

Sheep need to get their fleece removed regularly as they become too heavy. However, a sheep named Baarack was avoiding his haircut for many years.

He was found in the wild in Australia with a huge amount of hair on his body. The hair had grown so much that he could not even see properly.

Thankfully, he has now been rescued and shaved. His shaved hair was as heavy as 35 kg! That is enough to knit 61 sweaters or 490 pairs of men’s socks!

Baarack is a merino sheep. Merino sheep wool is known to be one of the softest and best types of wool in the world.
