Many places in India are famous for their beautiful scenery and nature. Sikkim, which is located in the northeastern part of India, is well known for its natural beauty.

It is also a popular tourist destination. Its capital is Gangtok, which is also the largest city in the state.

Sikkim is near Bangladesh, with Tibet, Bhutan and Nepal also its neighbours. It also has West Bengal in India on the other side.

  • The name Sikkim is a combination of two words: Su, which means ‘new’ and Khyim which means ‘palace’ or ‘house’.
  • It is the second smallest state in India. The smallest is Goa.
  • Most parts of this beautiful place have snow-covered mountains. India’s highest peak Kangchenjunga is located in Sikkim.
  • Locals follow Buddhism, their festivals are dependent on the Buddhist calendar.
  • The people are known to be very friendly and welcoming.
  • Sikkim is also the first organic state in the world.
  • There are plenty of places for tourists to have fun in Sikkim. People typically like to have a Yak ride near Tsomgo lake.
