A cloudburst is an extreme amount of precipitation (rain) in a short period of time. Sometimes, hail and thunder also follow alongside. Cloudbursts often create flood conditions.

Flash floods have affected seven districts in Himachal Pradesh. Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu and Chamba are the worst affected by the heavy rainfall. A cloudburst in the Himachal region triggered flash floods. 7 people died in Lahaul-Spiti. The NRDF(National Disaster Response Force) has assigned teams for rescue operations in Himachal Pradesh.

Moreover, the Kargil area in Ladakh, Bandi Pora, as well as the holy Amarnath cave shrine in Kashmir, also received heavy rainfall due to a cloudburst. The sudden and heavy rainfall damaged residential areas and a hydropower project in Kashmir. So, it's a big relief that no one was physically harmed.
