Cockroach milk: The superfood of the futureAs the world's population grows, scientists are searching for more nutritious and easier ways to feed everyone. The search is on for 'superfoods' or 'complete food'. A superfood is a single food that can provide all nutrition that the body needs.

As impossible as it sounds, scientists believe that cockroach milk may be the superfood of the future!

Cockroach milk is a protein-rich substance that female Pacific beetle cockroaches feed their young.
 	It is four times more nutritious than cow's milk.
 	Many foodies and scientists have become interested in cockroach milk because it contains all the essential amino acids, fat, and carbohydrates the body needs.

Researchers from the Institute of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine in India have successfully conducted research into this. They determined the gene responsible for producing the milk protein crystals.

This would make it possible to make an artificial version of cockroach milk in a lab.
 	The research was published in IUCrJ, the journal of the International Union of Crystallography*.

However, scientists are doing more research on this subject, to ensure all the facts.

*Crystallography:  It is the experimental science of determining the arrangement of atoms in crystalline solids.
