COVID-19: India records lowest daily rise in cases in 230 days

India reported 13,596 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The Health Ministry says that this is the lowest daily rise in the last eight months or 230 days. The active caseload is also the lowest in 221 days. About 99 crore vaccine doses have been given in India till now.

Delhi will have India’s first COVID-19 vaccination centre for children. This is for children from 2 to 18 years.

In Goa, schools have reopened for students of classes 9 to 12, with COVID-19 precautions.

The Bihar government says that the COVID-19 test is necessary for people coming from other states as Diwali and other festivals are coming up.

Maharashtra is allowing restaurants to open till midnight and shops till 11 pm from today. But all restaurant workers must be fully vaccinated.

Worldwide COVID-19 situation

Globally, countries have reported over 24 crore cases.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is working on a programme to ensure that poorer countries get fair access to COVID-19 vaccines, tests and treatments at a low cost. It aims to deliver about one billion COVID-19 tests to poorer nations. And provide low-cost medicines to treat up to 120 million patients globally. More details will be confirmed later.

A study says that COVID-19 vaccines, as well as previous coronavirus infections, could help protect against other, similar coronaviruses in the future.
