COVID-19 update: India records more daily cases than the U.S. and BrazilCOVID-19 cases in India today stand at around 2.8 million. Out of these, 1.43 million have recovered.

This is the fourth consecutive day that India has recorded more cases in a day that the US or Brazil, which have a higher number of cases.

The Serum Institute Of India has announced a tie-up with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the GAVI vaccines alliance.  It would ensure 100 million vaccine doses in India as early as 2021.

The Union Health Ministry has expressed concern about the bad COVID-19 situation in 16 districts of four states - Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

Punjab has ordered night curfew from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. in the worst-affected cities of Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Patiala from today.

An Air India Express crashed at Kerala's Kozhikode airport yesterday evening. It was coming back from Dubai, UAE carrying citizens returning to India. Around 18 people died while 127 people were injured.

What is the situation worldwide?

Over 19.3 million cases have been reported worldwide. The US, Brazil and India have the highest number of cases.

Russia says it will register the world's first-ever COVID-19 vaccine by next week. However, there are some concerns over its testing.

The recent blast in Beirut, Lebanon has made an already bad situation even worse. The country was already suffering due to its bad economy and the COVID-19 crisis. The United Nations fears that it become a humanitarian crisis with thousands homeless.
