Google announces plan to invest US$10 billion in India

Google announces plan to invest US$10 billion in IndiaTechnology giant Google has announced that it plans to invest US$10 billion (₹75,000 crores) in India over the next 5-7 years.

The fund would focus on helping India's digital economy grow. The digital economy is the economic activity that results from everyday online connections among people, businesses, devices, and more. It is also sometimes called the Internet Economy, the New Economy, or Web Economy.

Google plans to enable affordable internet access and information for every Indian in their local language. It will build new products for education, health, agriculture and more.

Google also plans to help businesses, especially smaller ones, to transform digitally. It means that the small businesses, which do not have any digital connections like websites, payments etc., Google will enable some digitisation for such businesses. It will also use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technology for rural economies and social good.

Google will invest in new partnerships and projects over the next few years. It will also continue supporting existing projects like Internet Saathi.

More than 500 million people in India are online today, making it the country with the second-largest number of internet users. This makes India a very attractive place for internet and technology companies.
