Google announces restrictions on political advertisementsRecently we have read about the ban on all political ads on Twitter.

Now, Google has also announced restrictions on political advertisements on its platform.

As per the changes, Google will limit political campaigns' ability to target voters.
 	In addition to this, Google will also take action on misleading statements in advertisements.
 	However, the campaigns will still be able to target based on age, gender and location.
 	This policy will only be implemented in the UK by the end of the year.
 	It will later be applicable worldwide from 6 January 2020.
 	Any actions taken against the policies will be logged on Google's Transparency Report Section.
 	Details about deleted ads will also appear on the page, but not the advertisements itself.

How do databases work in election campaigning online?

Google's technology tries to understand a person's political views, based on the user's browsing history.
 	In the US, political campaigns have the option to target people based on their political views.
 	It was also possible for other countries to upload their own lists of contact details (database of party members).
 	Google then used to match it with users and targeted those people directly.
