Happy World Laughter Day!

This day takes place on the first Sunday of May of every year. This year, that day is today.

Today is about celebrating laughter and joy. Laughter is good for your body and your mental health.

How was this day started?

World Laughter Day was started in 1998 by Dr Madan Kataria. He is the founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement. Dr Kataria popularised laughter yoga. He has even written a book about it.

What is Laughter Yoga?

Laughter Yoga is also known as Hasyayoga. It is a type of modern yoga or exercise involving long, continuous voluntary laughter. This type of yoga is based on the idea that facial expressions can affect our emotions. Laughter Yoga is usually done in groups, with eye contact and playfulness.

Today, there are about 5,000 Laughter Yoga clubs in 53 countries.

So, on World Laughter Day, remember to make sure to keep laughing today and every day!
