Hiker captures ‘rainbow halo’ from English mountainAs we were all celebrating New Year's Eve, 39-year-old Adrian Conchie captured some images of a rare weather phenomenon that looks like a 'rainbow halo' on top of an English mountain.

Where was Adrian when he saw the 'rainbow halo'?

Adrian was in the Lake District in England on 31 January 2019, when he saw the amazing display, also known as the Brocken spectre.

What is the Brocken spectre?

The Brocken spectre appears when a person stands above the upper surface of a cloud—on a mountain or high ground—with the Sun behind them.
 	The phenomenon can appear on any misty mountainside or cloud bank.

Adrian Conchie says that he had always wanted to see the phenomenon after seeing pictures online and said it was a really magical experience.

However, that is not the end of the story. Adrian and his friend Bryony saw another Brocken spectre later that very same day up a nearby mountain called Wetherlam.
