India announces ‘Unlock 1’ phase, starting 8 JuneCOVID-19 cases in India have crossed over 191,000, out of which more than 91,000 have recovered.

With the lockdown over on 31 May, the government is starting the 'Unlock 1' phase where many restrictions are being lifted but some rules and regulations have to be followed. It will start on 8 June.

However, "containment zones" where outbreaks of COVID-19 are more severe, must remain under lockdown until 30 June.

Night activity between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. is still restricted except for essential workers.
 	Under phase 1, schools and colleges remain shut but malls, saloons, etc can open. Religious places can also open.
 	The public is advised to maintain social distancing and wear masks.
 	However, the states of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana extended the lockdown till 30 June with some relaxations.
 	While healthcare workers are working around the clock to save people, there have been many cases of them being harassed or discriminated against. Prime Minister Modi has assured health workers, as well as others, working to fight COVID-19 pandemic that they will be protected.
 	India is now the seventh most-affected nation globally.
 	Indian Railways is starting with operating regular trains from today. Over 200 trains will start today from all over the country.

What is the situation worldwide?

There are over 6.15 million cases worldwide out of which 2.64 million have recovered.
 	Brazil has now recorded more than 514,000 cases, second highest in the world. Peru has also seen a huge climb in cases.
 	Hong Kong reported its first local COVID-19 cases in 2 weeks.
 	Many countries including England are opening schools, shops.
 	Italy has opened the country for tourism as its cases are starting to decline.
