India sees defeat in first match of 2021 T20 World Cup

Yesterday, on 24 October, India played against Pakistan in their first match of the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

India suffered a shock defeat as Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first. India scored 151 runs for 7 wickets. India captain Virat Kohli scored a half-century with 57 runs. Pakistan was easily able to chase down the score, without losing any wickets. Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi was the Player of the Match.

This match was the first win for Pakistan in a World Cup game against India. Moreover, it was the first time that Pakistan has won a T20 international match by 10 wickets. This is also India’s first-ever 10-wicket T20I loss.

Other matches at the 2021 T20 World Cup

Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 5 wickets. And the day before (on day 1 of the Super 12 round), Australia beat South Africa. Defending champions West Indies also lost to England.

Today, Afghanistan faces Scotland at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium at 7:30 PM IST.
