• The most popular destinations for tourists in Shillong include Lady Hydari Park, Ward’s Lake, and Mary Help of Christians Cathedral, among many more.

• Being the capital of Meghalaya, it also acts as a gateway to the state.
• Its name is derived from ‘U Lei Shillong’, a local deity (god).
