U Lei Shillong!

  • Being the capital of Meghalaya, it also acts as a gateway to the state.
  • Its name is derived from ‘U Lei Shillong’, a local deity (god).
  • It is well known that the locals are quite welcoming. In addition, Shillong is well-known for its music culture, and the city hosts a number of music events throughout the year.

Christmas is celebrated in Meghalaya with a lot of glitz and glamour due to the vast number of Christians who live there. As the day of this event draws near, now is a great time to go sightseeing across the city to take in all of the festive decorations and lights that have been put up.
