India’s Ashmita Chaliha wins the opening round in the India Open Badminton Tournament. She beat Russia’s Evgeniya Kosetskaya.

India Open Badminton Tournament began on 11th January and will be continued until 16th January 2022.

India’s Ashmita  Chaliha beat Evgeniya Kosetskaya in the opening round of the tournament. The leader board is now at 11-5.

The young player began well with her serves but eventually began making errors. This gave chance to Russia’s Kosetsyaka to lead the score by 14-14. Though, Chaliha covered up and earned her first point with a score of 16-19.

Moreover, Chaliha played pretty well and forced the Russian player to make an error, and then won the game. Moreover, Ashmita Chaliha managed to finish the match in 31 minutes.

The Indian player said that she was nervous at the beginning of the match, as she didn’t get a chance to play a lot of matches. But, once she was won the first game, she became more confident and relaxed in the second game.

Her Achievements

Ashmita Chaliha became the part of National Junior Team that competed at the 2017 World and Asian Junior Championship. Moreover, she was selected to be part of the Indian Badminton team for 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.

She won her first senior international title at the 2018 Dubai International Challenge in the women’s singles event.  She was the gold medalist at the 2019 South Asian Games in Women’s Singles and team events as well.

Ashmita will now play against France’s Yaelle Hoyaux.
