India’s largest renewable energy generation park
Today, Prime Minister Modi is laying the foundation stone of the Hybrid Renewable Energy Park near Vighakot village in Gujarat’s Kutch region. The foundation stone-laying ceremony indicates that now the building (of anything) will start officially.
This park is going to be India’s largest renewable energy generation park. This park is spread over 72,600 hectares of land and will have facilities to generate both wind and solar energy. It will also have a zone for wind park activities.
Once it is completed, it will generate around 30 GW (gigawatt) of renewable energy. 1 GW can light up around 110 million LED bulbs.
Other projects
During the visit to Gujarat today, PM Modi is also visiting a desalination plant at Mandvi, Kutch.
What does a desalination plant do?
A desalination plant removes salt from seawater to make it drinkable.
This desalination plant can process about 10 crore litres of water per day and will benefit people across many regions of Gujarat. Gujarat also has plans to set up four more desalination plants soon.
Additionally, PM Modi will also perform an online foundation stone laying ceremony for a dairy milk plant in Kutch. During this visit, he is interacting with farmers and artisans.
