Inspirational Paralympian

Praveen Kumar is a Paralympian high jumper who competes in the high jump T64 category. This year’s Tokyo Paralympics is his first-ever Paralympic Games and he has won a silver medal. He made a new record jump of 2.07 metres to win the medal.

Moreover, he is only 18 years old. This makes him India’s youngest Paralympic medal winner!

Praveen Kumar has a leg deficiency in which the bones that connect his hip to his left leg are affected. This makes it difficult for him to move around easily. However, despite his disability, this inspirational Paralympian is currently ranked third in the world.

Praveen Kumar earned his Paralympic qualification this year by reaching fourth place in the high jump T64 final at the Junior Championship.

Let’s congratulate him on winning a medal at his first Paralympics!

India at the Tokyo Paralympics

Avani Lekhara won a bronze medal in the Women’s 50m Rifle shooting. And this inspirational Paralympian has become the first Indian woman to win 2 Paralympic medals.

India now has a total medal tally of 12 medals and is at 36th position in the medal tally chart. China continues to be at the first position with 173 medals, while the UK and Russia are second and third respectively.
