In Mylapore's lively streets, there's a place that holds fast to tradition. The Madras Sanskrit College, set up in 1906 by V. Krishnaswamy Iyer, stands proud. More than bricks and mortar, this place is a pledge to keep Sanskrit alive. To guard our culture from the sweep of the West.

Iyer had a dream. He wanted the old ways of learning to survive. He aimed to back his teachers. And he wished for one of our ancient tongues to thrive.

Guided by the likes of Ramesh Mahalingam, the great-grandson of the visionary Krishnaswamy Iyer, this college marries the respect for age-old traditions with a keen eye towards the future.

Challenges abound, of course. The quest for more research facilities and the task of marrying the old with the new in a digital world are but a few. Yet, the college has stepped into the realm of online education with grace, opening the treasures of Sanskrit to eager minds everywhere.
