On Sunday, Lewis Hamilton became the first F1 (Formula One) driver to win his 100th race.

What is Formula One or F1?

Formula One (also known as Formula 1 or F1) is the highest class of international single-seater auto racing approved by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). The FIA is the world governing body for racing events.

Who is Lewis Hamilton?

Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton is a British racing driver. He currently competes in Formula One for Mercedes. In Formula One, Hamilton has won a joint-record seven World Drivers' Championship titles (tied with Michael Schumacher).

Hamilton emerged as the winner of the rain-hit Russian Grand Prix to post his 100th win. His win helped him move back to the top of the F1 drivers rankings. Red Bulls’ Max Verstappen came second while Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz Jr. came third.

Formula One

A Formula One season consists of a series of races, known as Grands Prix (French for ”grand prizes” or “great prizes”), which take place worldwide. 10 teams and 20 drivers participate in each season. The word “formula” in the name refers to the set of rules which all participants’ cars must follow.
