NASA clarifies that brooms can stand upright any day of the year

NASA clarifies that brooms can stand upright any day of the yearA few days ago, news spread on Twitter that NASA had declared 10 February to be the only day when a broom could stand on its own.

The tweet claimed that NASA had declared that on 10 February, the Earth would be so aligned on its axis that a broom could stand on its own "because of the gravitational pull".
 	The tweet also claimed that it would happen only on that particular day.
 	A college student posted a video too, that was viewed more than 8 million times.
 	It sparked a trend on Tuesday when everyone tried balancing their brooms. And the #BroomstickChallenge was born!

NASA has been forced to step in and clarify that brooms can stand upright any day of the year - and not just on 10 February.

There is nothing unique about the gravitational pull of Earth on 10 February, and that "basic physics works every day of the year - not just February 10th."
 	On 11 February, NASA shared a video of astronaut Alvin Drew and scientist Sarah Noble doing the #BroomstickChallenge. The video shows them balancing a broom upright as astronaut Drew says, "It's just physics".

Oh, by the way, the #BroomStickChallenge works with vacuum cleaners too!
