NASA shows amazing 10-year time-lapse video of the Sun

NASA shows amazing 10-year time-lapse video of the SunNASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) was launched into space in February 2010. Its aim was to study the Sun. SDO has now been observing the Sun non-stop for more than 10 years.

In this period, SDO has gathered 425 million high-resolution images of the Sun and other data. SDO's data has helped us discover many new things about the Sun and how it influences the solar system.

To celebrate SDO's 10-year anniversary, NASA has released an amazing 10-year time-lapse video of the Sun. It has combined images of the rise and fall in the Sun's activity for 10 years into a video.

The video is called 'A Decade of Sun' and is one hour long. It has been viewed over 3.6 million times on Youtube. The video is set to a piece of music called 'Solar Observer'. It was composed by musician Lars Leonhard.

The video also has some dark parts. NASA says that these happened when the Earth or the Moon blocked SDO's view coming in between the spacecraft and the Sun. SDO also experienced an instrument failure in 2016 during which no photos were taken.
