New Cat Cafe provides jobs to people with disability

Recommended for Foundational Grades

A new cat cafe is being built in Pearl City, Oahu. The goal of this cafe is to rescue the animals and to take care of their wellness.

Oahu is a US island, part of the Hawaiian islands. It is home to state capital, Honolulu.

Reasons for building the cat cafe

Dr Karen Tyson, a neuropsychologist and family therapist teamed up with KAT charities and launched Toe Beans and Dreams Adoption Cafe. It united children with disabilities and cats or the furry animals with the people who love them.

The mission of Toe Beans & Adoption Cafe is to help young people with disabilities by providing jobs and training to them. It will help them in living a better life on their own.

The name Toe Beans is named after paw pads on the bottom of a cat’s feet. The cafe will feature coffee, tea, snacks and baked goods in a nice and comfortable environment. The cafe will be a safe place for people with disabilities and also for their feline friends.

Cat cafe will hire young people to serve coffee and snacks to their guests. Moreover, they will also connect the people of Oahu with furry friends that need a home. The visitors would be able to eat, drink and also adopt cats from this cafe.

Community groups in the cafe

Dr Karen also stated that there will be community groups in the cafe that will help disabled people with skills training.

We know animals love unconditionally and they do not judge the people. Dr Karen believes that when special individuals connect with animals, a beautiful relationship is formed.
