Wayanad is a district in Kerala. It is located at the tip of the Deccan plateau and includes the Western Ghats.
The Western Ghats are a mountain range along the western coast of India.
What is Wayanad famous for?
- It has beautiful mountains. One can trek to the famous Chembra Peak or visit the Edakkal Caves.
- The forests here are home to amazing wildlife.
- You can try a safari ride to watch the animals in their natural habitat.
- You can also visit Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary and Tholpetty Wayanad Sanctuary.
- And yes, you can also stay in a treehouse or camp out!
- It also has many rivers and gorgeous waterfalls.
- Some of the pretty waterfalls are the Chethalayam and Soochipara waterfalls.
- Of course, how can we forget the dams that it has? The Banasura Sagar Dam and Karapuzha Dam are good picnic spots too.
- Try visiting Wayanad during summer or from October to May, because it rains pretty heavily during the monsoons!
