Protests in Myanmar and Hong Kong

In Myanmar, 18 people were shot on Sunday as they were protesting against the military takeover. However, this has not stopped them and they continue to protest. Democratic Aung San Suu Kyi has been seen in a video as she has appeared in a court trial. She appears to be in good health.

In Hong Kong, 47 activists were arrested by the government. This has led to hundreds of pro-democracy protesters gathering at a court where they are facing trial.

COVID-19 update

Cases are rising in 6 states across India.

Over 10 lakh people have registered on the government’s CoWIN portal to get vaccinated against the coronavirus in the second phase of India’s vaccination drive.

The second phase that began today aims to vaccinate those above 60 years of age and those above 45 who are already suffering from some serious diseases.

PM Modi also got his first vaccine today. Around 27 crore people are expected to be covered in this phase.

A road in India constructed in 18 hours

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) recently created a world record by constructing a road 25.54 km long in just 18 hours. This road is between Bijapur-Solapur on the NH (National Highway) 52.
