Scientists discover 2 super-Earths and a ‘cold Neptune’

Scientists discover 2 super-Earths and a ‘cold Neptune’Scientists are looking for exoplanets (planets outside the solar system) that can be habitable in the future. In continuation of these studies, researchers have now found 5 exoplanets and 8 exoplanets candidates.

The exoplanets include 2 super-Earths that might be habitable and a ‘cold Neptune’ planet. A super-Earth is an exoplanet whose mass is higher than Earth but lesser than the other planets, such as Neptune or Uranus.
 	The 2 super-Earths named GJ180d and GJ229Ac are 19 light-years and 39 light-years away from earth. They were found near red dwarf stars which are cooler and smaller than the Sun.
 	The mass of the 2 super-Earths is 7.5 and 7.9 times of Earth and they take 106 days and 122 days to complete an orbit around their stars.
 	The stars are considerably close to Earth and can be studied further by using future telescopes.
 	The ‘cold Neptune’ is similar in mass to the planet Neptune in our solar system. It is 29.5 light-years away from Earth.
 	The exoplanets were discovered using the radial speed technique which is used to find the red dwarf stars.
 	A team led by Fabo Feng from the Carnegie Institution of Science in Washington, US found the exoplanets.
