Space missions to be curious about in 2022

In 2021, we saw many events, many missions launched into space. James Webb  Space Telescope also launched prior to the new year.

Similarly, many missions into space, to the moon and Mars are awaited to be launched in 2022. Let’s hope that 2022 will be an exciting year ahead.

  • James Webb Space Telescope will come online: The Webb telescope launched on Christmas Day 2021.  The telescope’s systems and instruments will speed up and 178  scheduled mechanisms will deploy in the upcoming 6 months. Therefore, it will start the regular missions after late summer in 2022.
  • Gaganyaan 1 to be launched in 2022: ISRO(Indian Space Research Organization) is all set to launch its first uncrewed test flight and it will be the first Indian manned mission. Gaganyaan 1 will be launched in mid-2022 with Gaganyaan 2 to be launched in 2023.
  • Juno Spacecraft: NASA’s Juno spacecraft is exploring Jupiter since 2016. In February 2022, Juno spacecraft will travel near Europa at a distance of about 29,000 miles.
  • SpaceX’s 1st orbital Starship launch: SpaceX will launch its first orbital starship in the month of March.
  • NASA will launch a rocket, the Space Launch System, that is 332 feet tall and it will be used for upcoming moon missions.
  • The European Space Agency‘s (ESA) JUICE mission will launch in May 2022. It will arrive at the planet Jupiter in 2029. It will study Jupiter’s largest moons: Ganymede, Europa and Callisto.

Many more such missions are scheduled to be launched in 2022.
