In 1992, Irwin got married to Terri Raines, who was also a wildlife lover. To celebrate the marriage, Steve Irwin and his wife went on a journey to trap crocodiles, which was recorded for television. This became the first part of the television show The Crocodile Hunter.

The show made Irwin famous and has been seen by people in 120 countries across the world. Steve also became famous for his love for wildlife and efforts to save animals.
