The top 10 inspirational women of 2021

2021 is coming to an end. How about taking a look back at the inspirational teens, who have impacted the world this year? Here are some of the amazing women, who inspired us:

  1. Samia Suluhu Hassan –  She is the first-ever female President of Tanzania. Hassan has also become the only current female political head of government among the countries of Africa.
  2. Karen Lynch –  Karen Lynch, CEO (Chief executive officer),  CVS Health Corporation is an American healthcare company. She was also announced as the most powerful woman in business by Forbes. The company plays an important role in the US response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  3. Maria Ressa – Journalist Maria Ressa won the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize. She is from the Philippines. She won this year’s Nobel Peace Prize “for her efforts to safeguard freedom of expression” as well as “for her courageous fight for freedom of expression in the Philippines”.
  4. Kamala Harris – She created history by becoming the first-ever woman to be elected Vice President of the US. She is also the first black woman and person of Indian descent to achieve this.
  5. Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, an economist from Nigeria, is the first woman and the first person from Africa to head the World Trade Organisation.
  6. Women judges in India’s Supreme Court – Justice Indira Banerjee, Justice B V Nagarathna, Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Bela M Trivedi. They are four women Supreme Court judges.
  7. Anshu Malik – She is the first Indian woman to win a silver medal at the 2021 Wrestling World Championships.
  8. Avani Lekhara – She is a young Indian para rifle shooter. She is currently ranked fifth in women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1.
  9. Deepa Malik – She is the first Indian woman athlete to win a medal at the Paralympic Games.
  10. Zara Rutherford – The one who has made her dream to fly solo come true. She started her 51,000 kilometres journey in August. She wishes to travel over five continents and 52 countries.
  11. Harnaaz Sandhu – India’s Harnaaz Sandhu wins Miss Universe 2021. It is after 21 years that India won the Miss Universe title. She represented India at the 70th Miss Universe 2021 that was held in Eilat, Israel.  She became the third Indian lady to win the title of Miss Universe.
