The world’s ‘most beautiful snail’ – Polymita

Recommended for Foundational Grades

Did you know that the world’s ‘most beautiful snail’ is found in the country of Cuba?

They are called Polymita or painted snails. They are a type of large, air-breathing land snails.

Their shells come in many colours like yellow and pink or red and black. Looking at them is like looking at a colourful staircase that goes down forever.

Cuba is located near the US and Mexico. It has the most number of different types of snails in the world. But among them, Polymita snails are the most famous.

As they are so beautiful, many people want to buy and collect the Polymita snails. Sadly, this means, they are getting fewer and fewer in the wild. The government protects them but people still sell them secretly.

Would you like to see the world’s most beautiful snail someday?

Watch a video of them below.
