Thick smoke from bush fire affects Sydney

Thick smoke from bush fire affects SydneySydney in Australia is under a thick cloud of smoke. The smoke is from the bush fires that are burning around the city.

The air quality of Sydney at the moment is 11 times more than the hazardous level. Hazardous level of air quality is the highest level and means that there are many pollutants or unhealthy particles in the air. You can read about air pollution: PM10 and PM2.5 here.
 	Schools and many ferry services have stopped.  The famous Opera House and Harbour Bridge are behind thick smoke too.
 	The people of Sydney are experiencing sore throats, irritation in eyes and nose due to the bad air quality.
 	The smoke has covered the city for a few weeks now and the sky looks brown and orange instead of blue.
 	Experts are hoping for things to get better since the southerly winds are expected to blow. This change in the direction of the wind and expected rains may help stop the bush fires and clear the air.

The bush fires in Australia are also affecting neighbouring New Zealand.

Experts say the smoke is related to the climate change that is affecting our environment. Cutting trees and mining lead to bush fires that spread because of the heat and dry weather.
