Times Higher Education (THE) Asia university rankings 2022

India is the third-most representative country in Asia to be ranked on Times Higher Education (THE) Asia university rankings.  India is ranked with 17 Indian institutes among the top 200 list. Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore is leading the list.

Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2022

According to the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia rankings, the IISc (Indian Institutes of Science), Bangalore has slipped down from 36th to 42nd rank this year, on the list. Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar and Indore are two institutions after IISc Bangalore to rank among the list of top 100 institutes in 2022. In THE Asia university rankings 2022, approximately 616 universities from 31 countries have been ranked on the list. India is ranked on the list with 71 universities from all over the country.

Criteria for ranking

The ranking by THE Asia University is based on the following parameters:

  • Teaching and the learning environment.
  • Research and its influences.
  • The staff of the universities and the students studying in the institutions.
  • Knowledge transfer between the teachers and the students.

Top 100 list issued by THE Asia university

  • Chinese universities continue to remain in the top 5 list.
  • Tsinghua University has been ranked as the best university in Asia.
  • Peking University is in second place and the University of Singapore is in third place.
  • University of Hong Kong and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore are in fourth and fifth rank respectively.

India’s position on THE Asia University list

India’s older institutes, IIT-Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur and Madras didn’t participate in THE rankings list this year. Several institutions from India have made progress in their performances as compared to last year. Jawaharlal Nehru University is ranked 167 in Asia while Jamia Millia Islamia University is ranked 160. Moreover, the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad holds the rank 174 in the top 200 rankings. Also, Delhi Technology University is ranked 149 in 2022. Isn’t it interesting?
