Do you ever wish that you could admire the universe from the comfort of your home? Maybe, take stunning photos of space from your back yard?
Russell Discommode is a university teacher who lives in Gloucestershire, England. He has always loved taking photos of space or the cosmos.
Recently, during the lockdown due to COVID-19, he has been really able to devote himself to this hobby.
He bought a star tracker and telescope to locate “deep sky” objects from his backyard. Some of these are up to 50 million light-years away.
He also uses a special astrophotography camera to capture anything he spots. Some of the images he has produced have been absolutely out-of-this-world!
A star tracker is an instrument that measures the position of stars. It helps you get crisp and clear photographs of the night sky.
Russel has taken different photos of space. These include pictures of the Orion Nebula, Elephant’s Trunk Nebula and the Heart Nebula as well as the Needle Galaxy, and more.
