Watch a video: Dinosaur gives speech against climate change

Recommended for Preparatory Grades

Climate change is a big problem the world faces today. Due to human activity, Earth is getting warmer and this puts the whole planet in danger. Many plants and animals are also going extinct (disappearing permanently).

So, the United Nations (UN) put out a video recently to remind us again of the dangers of climate change.

In the video, an animated dinosaur enters a UN meeting and gives a speech to warn world leaders of the dangers of extinction. In the video, it says, “it’s time humans stopped making excuses and started making changes”. It also says “At least we had an asteroid. What’s your excuse”.

Dinosaurs went extinct about 60 million years ago after an asteroid hit Earth. So, the message behind the video is that if we don’t fight climate change now, we could also be headed towards extinction.

This video is part of the UN’s Don’t Choose Extinction campaign. It is aimed as a message at world leaders to do a lot more to fight climate change.

From 31 October, world leaders will meet for the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow, Scotland. So, we hope that they will take this dinosaur’s message seriously.
