NASA’s Mars helicopter sets new speed record – Watch a video

We have read about NASA’s Mars helicopter, Ingenuity, and its first flight on Mars.

On Sunday, Ingenuity flew for the third time on Mars. This flight was its fastest ever.

On this flight, Ingenuity flew about the length of a football field. It hit a speed of about 2 metres per second –  that’s as fast as a normal human’s jog.

Of course, robotic helicopters on Earth can fly much faster than this. But this speed that Ingenuity reached was even faster than what it reached during tests on Earth.

NASA says the information from Ingenuity’s flights will help scientists created bigger helicopters for future Mars missions. A fourth flight is planned for later this week.
