Do you know what the word ‘trivia’ means?

It means unimportant matters or details. It can also mean facts about many subjects that are used in a game to test people’s knowledge.

Fun facts about the word ‘Trivia’!

  • The word ‘trivia’ comes from the Latin word trivium means “crossroads”. This was a place where three roads came together.
  • Such places were where people met each other. But rich Romans looked at these places and found them dirty or too common. So, from there, they created the word trivialis, which means “found everywhere, commonplace”
  • This word was then adopted by the English language in the late sixteenth century, becoming ‘trivia’.
