The Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2023 now include 75 Indian universities. The Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore has moved up one group to take the top spot in the rankings.

According to the rankings, the best university in the world is the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. For the seventh year in a row, the University of Oxford has stayed at the top of the rankings list.

Key facts!

• In second and third place, respectively, are the University of Harvard in the United States and the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.
• The teaching indication has Harvard at the top, while the research pillar places Oxford at the top.
• The United States of America has the most citizens participating in the ranking list overall.
• Asia is the continent with the most universities participating tied with Europe.
• Universities from more than a thousand different countries and regions are listed in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023.
• This makes them the widest and most diverse set of university rankings that have ever been published.
• The rating is based on how well an institution does in relation to carefully measured performance factors.
• These factors are split into four groups: teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international view.
