Jelaja Ratheesh – Driving a truck from Kerala to Kashmir!
Recommended for Foundational Grades
When Jelaja Ratheesh decided to drive a truck from Kerala to Kashmir, she didn’t think twice about it. Kashmir was her dream destination.
Dream come true!
Jelaja Ratheesh started her trip to Kashmir from Kerala. She was looking forward to visiting her dream destination, Kashmir. She had her husband a relative with her at all times. On February 2, 2022, the three of them left Kerala and took plywood to Pune. Thereafter, from Pune, they then took a lot of onions to Kashmir.
Passionate about driving!
Jelaja Ratheesh has been a big fan of driving since she was little. It was only after marriage that she learned how to drive. Once with her husband, she drove the lorry all the way to Mumbai on the way to see the city.
She once drove a truck all the way to Pune to check how much would it cost. This was the time she first slept inside the truck and also cooked food. She feels great about driving a truck, to many people’s surprise.
Trip to Kashmir!
Her trip has been documented and parts of it are available on Youtube. On her trip to Kashmir, she drove through many states in the North. People were surprised when they see a woman behind the wheel of a big truck.
A lot of people looked at her with curiosity and wonder. This makes her feel good about herself. She believes that her confidence as a woman has risen. She prefers a truck for a long journey, as one could sleep inside a truck. Although, using unclean public washrooms on the way proved to be challenging for her.
My favourite part of our trip was when she went to Gulmarg. In the process of returning home, she took wood and a lot of sugar from Mysore.
Jelaja would like to next visit Tripura and Delhi with her family.
