Protests in Russia

Tens of thousands of people marched in protest in about 100 cities and towns in Russia on Saturday. They were protesting against the arrest of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. He had recently come back to the country after being hospitalised due to an attempted poisoning. More than 3,500 were protestors were arrested.

Many youths who participated in the protests and posts promoting the demonstrations were also viewed hundreds of millions of times on TikTok.

Google Maps to display locations that offer COVID-19 vaccinations

For now, it is first rolling out the feature in four US states: Arizona, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. The results, which will also be shown in search results, include details about whether an appointment is required, who can get the vaccine, etc. It plans to roll out the feature to other states and countries later.

The Inequality Virus report

As per a report called The Inequality Virus by Oxfam International, worldwide billionaires’ wealth increased by a huge US$3.9 trillion between 18 March and 31 December 2020. On the other hand, hundreds of millions of people lose their jobs.

According to the report, the increase in the wealth of the world’s 10 richest billionaires (just since the crisis began) is “more than enough to prevent anyone on Earth from falling into poverty because of the virus, and to pay for a COVID-19 vaccine for everyone“.

The photo of him sitting on a chair, wearing a simple jacket and mittens at the inauguration of President Biden went viral and has become a huge meme. It has lifted spirits around the world since it went viral.  See a funny one below:
