World Students’ Day!

Recommended for Important Days

India celebrates World Students’ Day on 15 October every year. This day celebrates the students of the country and world.

We celebrate this day on the birthday of former Indian President, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He was the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.

He was popularly known as the “People’s President”.

Key facts!

  • Dr Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 in Tamil Nadu.
  • Before he became President, he was an aerospace scientist.
  • He played a very important role in developing India’s missile defence programme.
  • It earned him the title of “Missile Man of India”.
  • He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest award for his achievements.
  • However, more than his other achievements, he wanted the world to remember him as a teacher. He was a strong believer in education.
  • He loved to interact with students and children and listen to their ideas.
  • He inspired many students and young people to follow their dreams.
  • Hence, his birthday is the perfect day to celebrate World Students’ Day.
