World Students’ Day – 15 October

World Students’ Day – 15 OctoberHappy World Students' Day to all our readers.

We celebrate World Students' Day every year on 15 October, the birthday of former Indian President and scientist, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

The United Nations recognised this day in 2010.
 	They chose this day because Dr Kalam was well known for his love of students and identified himself as a teacher, above everything else.
 	He was a strong believer in education and an inspiration to the students and youth of India.

Dr Kalam is famously known as Missile Man of India for playing a major role in India’s Ballistic Missiles development.

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameshwaram, Madras Presidency (now Tamil Nadu).
 	Dr Kalam played an important role in India's test of nuclear weapons in 1998.
 	He was also the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. Additionally, he was an author and poet.
 	He was later awarded the Bharat Ratna for his work with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
